Effects of light intensity on the distribution of anthocyanins in Kalanchoe brasiliensis Camb. and Kalanchoe pinnata (Lamk.) Pers Anais da ABC (AABC)
Cruz,Bruna P.; Chedier,Luciana M.; Peixoto,Paulo H.P.; Fabri,Rodrigo L.; Pimenta,Daniel S..
This paper compares two medicinal species of Kalanchoe, which are often used interchangeably by the population, regarding the distribution of anthocyanins under the influence of four luminosity levels for 6 months. For the morphoanatomical analysis, the 6th stem node of each plant was sectioned. Usual histochemical tests revealed the presence of anthocyanins by cross sections of the stems, petioles and leaf blades. The petioles and leaf blades were submitted to the extraction with acidified methanol, and the anthocyanins were quantified by spectrophotometric readings. At the macroscopic level, it was noticed for both species a higher presence of anthocyanins in stems and petioles of plants under full sunlight. The microscopy of K. brasiliensis stems...

Cieslik, Lucas Fernando; Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná; Vidal, Ribas Antônio; Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul; Trezzi, Michelangelo Muzell; Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná.
The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the impact of the time of fomesafen application and its dose on the tolerance of the common bean crop and to investigate the influence of environmental variables on herbicide selectivity. Two field experiments were conducted using the time of fomesafen application and its dose as factors. Crop injury from fomesafen reached 20% when evaluated one week after treatment (WAT). When sprayed at the warmest times of the day when irradiance levels were at their highest (11h00 and 16h00), fomesafen phytotoxicity was higher compared with other application times. Increased values of these two environmental variables, especially luminosity, was associated with high levels of fomesafen injury to the bean crop....

In vitro establishment of blackberry (Rubus sp.) cultivar 'Xavante' Ciência Rural
Pelizza,Tânia Regina; Silveira,Fabiane Nunes; Ribeiro,Roberta Sabatino; Machado,Bruno Dalazen; Rufatto,Leo; Kretzschmar,Aike Anneliese.
ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to evaluate the in vitro establishment of 'Xavante' blackberry under different conditions of plant luminosity and concentrations of salts of MS medium. The maintenance of 'Xavante' blackberry plants in the absence of light, with the use of MS medium with salt concentrations of 75% and 100% reduce bacterial contamination and the percentage of explants oxidized and provide the highest percentage of surviving and established explants. The 50% salt dilution in MS medium is not recommended when plants are subjected to the absence of light due to the high percentage of oxidized explants and consequently lower survival and establishment.

The influence of side-curtain color on broiler chick behavior Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Vercellino,R do A; Moura,DJ de; Nääs,I de A; Maia,AP de A; Medeiros,BBL; Salgado,DDA; Carvalho,TRM de.
Brazilian poultry production is prospering, and negative-pressure broiler houses are increasingly used to improve environmental control. One important issue is the color of the side curtains used in such houses due to the influence of colors on broiler behavior. This study aimed at evaluating the influence of different curtain color on the welfare of 7-day-old broilers, considering luminosity and other environmental parameters. Chicks were housed in three different negative-pressure broiler houses either with black (T1), blue (T2), or yellow (T3) side curtains. House environment (luminosity, dry-bulb temperature, air relative humidity, air velocity, and gas emissions) and the behavior of chicks on day 7 after housing were evaluated in three consecutive...

Yield and quality of inflorescences of 'Golden Torch' heliconia in different shaded environments AGRIAMBI
Souza,Rafaela R. de; Beckmann-Cavalcante,Márkilla Z.; Silva,Alcilane A.; Silva,Everaldo M. da; Brito,Leonardo P. da S.; Silva,Adriano O..
ABSTRACT Light is one of the factors that most affect crop growth and yield. However, the control of light intensity is difficult, because, under certain environmental conditions, light energy may exceed or limit the capacity of plants to use it. In this sense, the productive behavior of plant species in shaded environments needs to be known. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different shaded environments with black shade nets [0 (full sun), 35 and 50%, and overlap 35 + 50% shading nets] on flowering, yield and quality of inflorescences of Heliconia psittacorum (cv. 'Golden Torch'). The shaded environments caused a reduction in the number of days for inflorescence emergence and in the cycle of H. psittacorum (cv. 'Golden Torch'). The yield and...
